OUR MISSION

How the
WEC Works

How the WEC System Works

The WEC system treats water using an electrically driven deionization process. It operates in two repeating stages that allow the system to clean water continuously without salt or chemical additives.

Step One #1 Mineral Capture

As water flows through the WEC module, it passes across charged membranes inside the unit. These membranes attract and temporarily hold dissolved minerals and salts that contribute to scale buildup and water hardness.

This process happens in real time as water enters the home, so treated water is delivered immediately to every tap.

Step Two #2 System Refresh

Once the membranes reach capacity, the system automatically switches modes. The electrical charge is briefly reversed, releasing the captured minerals. These are flushed out in a controlled rinse cycle and sent through the drain line.

Because this process is electrically driven, no salt regeneration is required and no brine is produced.

The system then returns to normal operation and continues treating incoming water.

Pre and Post Filtration

Each WEC system includes simple filtration at the beginning and end of the process to improve performance and water quality.

Incoming water first passes through a sediment filter that removes larger particles such as sand, rust, and debris. After treatment, a carbon block filter refines the water to improve clarity, taste, and odor.

The result is clean, consistent water throughout the home, from showers to drinking water.

WEC600

Navien’s WEC Series is designed to treat all the water entering your home, not just drinking water. It uses an advanced electro-membrane process to lower total dissolved solids, reduce hardness minerals, and manage unwanted contaminants without relying on salt or chemical additives.

Unlike traditional softeners, WEC is fully electric and does not discharge brine into the environment. The system installs at the main water entry point, so every faucet, appliance, and fixture benefits from more balanced water quality.

The result is water that is easier on plumbing, appliances, and daily use. You notice it when cooking, bathing, washing, and living with water every day, without changing how your home operates or how water is delivered.

Smart, self-cleaning

Water treatment

WEC is built to make better water simple. Its Clean-In-Place (CIP) system automatically flushes contaminants from the internal membranes, so there is no need for manual cleaning or complicated servicing.

There are no heavy bags to lift, no brine tanks to manage, and no plumbing changes required. Day to day maintenance is minimal. When needed, you simply top off the CIP solution and replace the two included filters.

The system is designed to work quietly in the background, delivering consistent water quality without adding extra work to your routine.

Regeneration

without Downtime

WEC is built with two NDI modules working together. This means the system can clean itself without stopping your water. While one module is regenerating, the other continues treating water in real time.

For the homeowner, this simply means consistent water, all day, every day. There is no waiting, no shutdown, and no change to how you use water in your home.

This dual module design is what allows WEC to stay reliable, low maintenance, and always on.

Why reducing
TDS matters

Total dissolved solids, or TDS, are the small particles dissolved in your water. These include minerals, salts, and trace materials that you cannot see but use every day.

When TDS levels are too high, they can lead to scale buildup on fixtures, spots on dishes, dull laundry, and added wear on appliances. Over time, this affects how your water tastes, how your home looks, and how long your plumbing and appliances last.

By managing TDS with WEC, you are helping protect your home and everyday comfort. Balanced water is easier on pipes, appliances, and surfaces, and can reduce long term maintenance and replacement costs.

Enjoy Treated Water When You Need It

With No Downtime

WEC is designed so treated water is always available. The system uses a dual module design that allows one module to regenerate while the other continues treating water.

This means there is no interruption, even during cleaning cycles or periods of high demand. Your home continues to receive treated water throughout the day without waiting or scheduling downtime.

With WEC, water treatment works quietly in the background, delivering consistent results without changing how you live or use water.

WHY WEC

Protect your home and your health from hard water and TDS

Hard water is more than an inconvenience. Over time, it can affect how your skin and hair feel, leave residue on laundry, and create scale buildup inside pipes and appliances.

WEC helps reduce scale forming minerals and lowers total dissolved solids without using salt. This results in water that is gentler on your home and more consistent for everyday use, from bathing and cooking to cleaning and drinking.

WEC also reduces common substances found in municipal water, including chlorine and certain metals, helping improve the overall quality of water throughout your home. The result is water that feels cleaner, performs better, and supports a more comfortable daily routine.

Monitor Everything From Your Phone

Every WEC system includes NaviLink Lite, a built in Wi Fi monitoring tool that connects to your smartphone or tablet. The app lets you view daily water usage, check system status, and receive maintenance reminders in one place.

You can see how your system is performing without opening panels or guessing when service is needed. NaviLink Lite helps you stay informed and in control, with water information that is easy to understand and easy to access.

Eco-friendly Deionized Water Treatment

Traditional water softeners release salty wastewater that can affect soil, waterways, and municipal water treatment systems over time.

WEC offers a cleaner, more environmentally responsible alternative. It treats water without salt discharge, so no sodium or potassium chloride is released into wastewater. The system operates electrically with low energy use, making it efficient for everyday operation.

With WEC, you can enjoy clean, treated water at home while reducing unnecessary environmental impact and avoiding the byproducts of traditional softening systems.
